Ruggedly beautiful, the local area offers some of the most spectacular scenery in Languedoc. Breath-taking gorges en route to the captivating Minerve, once an imposing medieval Cathar city. The cicadas chirping in the scented garrigue, a mix of thyme, juniper and rosemary. A paradise for nature lovers, walkers and cyclists.
We are so lucky to be able to live here all year round! Since 2007 we have worked hard to make La Meurette a place where we would like to stay if we were on holiday. In 2018 we made the move to live here permanently and are busy completing our own house behind La Meurette.
Donald is Dutch, a construction engineer and keen musician. He regularly goes along to the jam session outside l’épicerie in Oupia on Sunday mornings were a motley crew of expats and locals play guitar, mouth harmonicas and sing.
Rachel is English, lived in the Netherlands for 20 years and is a text writer. Mad about food, this corner if France is about as good as it gets for flavours and deliciously fresh produce all year round.
